Wines from the heart of Sardinia

bottled wines Sardinia
Our vineyards grow at an altitude between 500 and 570 meters.

Thanks to the particular geographical conformation, the Mandrolisai is a territory strongly suited to viticulture, which allows us to carry out a limited number of treatments (maximum 4 per year from our first harvest).

The processes are carried out in a particular way by Damiano, through a lot of manual work: from the winter pruning, to the green one, to the harvesting of the grapes in crates.

Our vineyards give us the possibility of harvesting healthy grapes, with low yields per hectare; consequently in the cellar we carefully control the temperatures during the vinification, in order to respect the organoleptic profile.

Among the grapes from our vineyards, we have chosen to vinify the grapes from three of these separately, because they are capable of giving recognizable wines.

OUR WINES

Frore – Bianco Isola dei Nuraghi IGT

Grapes: native red berried, vinified in white
Training system: double spurred cordon
Yield per hectare: 60-70 quintals/ha
Maturation: steel

Frore means flower. The label represents the Peony, a flower without thorns, which blossoms only 20 days a year, a symbol of Sardinia. The flower, the most delicate, to be protected and admired, like the children of the house.

Giogu - Cannonau di Sardegna DOC

Grapes: Cannonau (100%)
Vineyard of origin: Atzara
Breeding: sapling
Year of planting: 1960
Yield per hectare: 35 quintals/ha
Maturation: steel

On Giogu, it's the toy. To play with the top, like the one shown on the label, you have to wrap it with the string, throw it, pull the string and watch as it spins and goes on by itself. It is the metaphor of what adults have to do: at a certain point they have to let their little ones go and accompany them only with their eyes.

Domo - Mandrolisai DOC

Grapes: Cannonau (30%), Sardinian Bovale (Muristeddu) (45%), Monica (20%), Barbera Sarda (5%)
Vineyard of origin: S'Ulimu- Atzara
Breeding: double cordon.
Year of planting: 2010
Yield per hectare: 50-60 quintals/ha
Maturation: steel

Domo means home; it is the symbol of the family, our hearth, it is our private space.
The homage is to the woman, guardian and interpreter of the textile tradition (still strongly rooted in Sardinia), as well as the center of the family, and therefore of the home.
At the 5Star Wines competition of Vinitaly 2023, Domo was recognized as the best red wine of Sardinia, and among the 6 best reds of Italy.

Giuàle - Mandrolisai DOC

Grapes: Cannonau (25%), Sardinian Bovale (Muristeddu) (45%), Monica (20%), other native varieties (Niedda Manna, Pascale, Carignano) (10%)
Vineyard of origin: Angraris- Atzara
Breeding: sapling
Year of planting: 1988
Yield per hectare: 25 quintals/ha
Bottles produced: 2000
Maturation: steel/barrique

Giuàle is the row, i.e. that of the vineyard, and also a yoke, like the one now used in the past, to keep the oxen close while working the land.
We have metaphorically seen the yoke, su giuàle, as a symbol of the strong bond we have with our land: an umbilical cord that never separates; but also as the indivisible bond that binds us in the Demelas family.
